Coronavirus & COVID-19 Update: 16/3/2020
Like many organisations, Ardagh Community Trust (ACT) has been watching the unfolding situation with coronavirus and COVID-19 and listening to the advice offered by the government, NHS, and a wide range of other science and advisory bodies. We have also been discussing the experiences and actions of other countries, including activities taking place in European cities.
We believe we should take action to protect our communities and the people we work with. We are particularly mindful of vulnerable people we come into contact with and the need to be supportive, calm and proactive.
We want to ensure we provide access to accurate online information and that no one feels isolated, scared or unsupported during this changing time.
For these reasons we intend to take the following actions:
– Keep our site (The Ardagh) open for as long as possible, whilst making sure we keep up to date with, and follow, government and NHS advice.
This includes:
– regularly washing hands
– encouraging social distancing (keeping apart and providing clean spaces)
– providing advice regarding managing symptoms, such as referrals to helplines
– supporting people remotely who may have to self -isolate (please see here) (https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/COVID19help…) & (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=3375519429143898&set=gm.3000037590034901&type=3&theater&ifg=1)
– Stop all non-urgent work-related travel.
– Support home working and ensure our staff team have the help and tools they need to work remotely and avoid becoming isolated.
– Temporarily stop running events for groups of over 15 people and find online ways to run workshops, activities and gatherings. We will be planning activities for the future and keeping in contact with all who regularly attend The Ardagh.
– Work with BCR Community Partnership and other local organisations to make sure accurate information is widely shared, and elderly and vulnerable people in the Horfield Common area are supported.
–-----------
We will be reviewing these measures regularly and welcome your feedback.
